At our  Dental Clinic we use strong, tooth-coloured material that is aesthetically pleasing and very durable. Tooth decay can be treated with ionomers, composite or the combination which is called sandwich technique. Tooth-coloured fillings offer various benefits to your smile’s function and look. This can include a chemical attachment that releases fluoride into the adjacent tooth structure increasing its ability to prevent cavities. We can custom-match the hue of your new filling with the natural colour of your existing teeth. The new filling will look just like your other teeth. The other advantage of these types of fillings is that a snug seal between your tooth and the filling blocks leakage. The Texas  City Dental in Texas City is conveniently located near t La Marque, Galveston, and Hitchcock area is conveniently located near to the HEB and ROSS market complex is the closet dentist office .

It might not be a nice thought, but did you know that the “old style” grey amalgam metal fillings contain on average 50% mercury? Mercury is a highly toxic substance that has been linked with many diseases, and for this reason, Absolute Smiles is a completely Mercury free practice!

What are my options if I want my amalgams replaced?

This really depends on the size of the existing filling. The 2 main materials we use to fill teeth are:

  •     Composite (white resin filling material
  •     Dental ceramic (porcelain fillings/inlays and crowns.

Small to medium amalgams can often be replaced with a simple composite filling. Larger amalgams, or those that are under a lot of load (for example, on back molar teeth) will usually require what is known as a “ceramic inlay” or “porcelain filling”.

Advantages of Porcelain fillings:

  • Very strong
  • Long lasting and wear at the same rate as natural enamel
  • Blend seamlessly with the natural tooth colour
  • Contain no mercury or harmful chemicals
  • Conserve healthy tooth structure in the long term

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, we encourage you to discuss these matters with a dental professional.
